UNA-USA's National Advocacy Program: Adopt-A-Future
We are in the midst of the worst refugee crisis ever—there are more than 60 million refugees in the world today. The vast majority of refugees are children. And of these children, less than half have access to education.
An uneducated child is a vulnerable child, at risk of exploitation and violence. So many of us have read the horrible stories and seen the images of refugees in need, yet haven't known how to help. There has been a clear—and very frustrating—lack of a format that connects generous Americans to refugee children in need.
Until now.
UNA-USA is proud to announce the launch of Adopt-a-Future. After months of careful research and planning, we have identified a list of over 60 schools in 9 countries available to be matched with American communities. Your community—whether it's your place of work, your child's school, a retirement center, or place of worship—can adopt a UNHCR school and make a real, tangible difference in the lives of refugee children.
Want to get started today? For as little as $250, an individual supporter can provide 10 students who are enrolling in school for the first time with fresh school uniforms and supplies so they have the tools they need to begin their studies.
